I like the Space Station model... Wish we could have seen more of the outside of it... It was supposed to have a crew of 85, which presumably meant that it was about the same size as the famous 2001 Space Wheel...
Pretty sure Tarkovsky took direct inspiration from 2001. He noted the cleanliness of Kubrick's station, and supposedly said "Lets make ours look like a broken down bus."
@@dejuren1367 Lem felt most of the science fiction elements were totally bypassed by Tarkovsky in order to make a "Crime and Punishment" in space. Most of the epistemological questions raised by the novel were ignored, the nature of consciousness, the problem of communication, etc. He also noted that Tarkovsky did a similar thing with the Strugatsky Brothers' Roadside Picnic (move was called Stalker).
@@Pericalypsisimo Tarkovski wanted to portait the inevitable selfdestruction of a loved one. How you can see he/she is destroying everything good and the main character is trying to avoid it.
Came here while watching Archive 81 where this film is referenced, or rather hinted at, in the first episode. The name Tarkovsky was also referenced in episode two "Tarkovsky mug". Great trailer!
Archive 81 looks a bit interesting, although i'm not a big fan of horror freddy/jason types. but you recommend it? like it looks more like The Ring which has been done.
I hear you. Hello from America to my brothers in Poland and Russia! I wish cinema and literature like this was more common and appreciated. I deeply hate the state of modern media. The important thing though is that we each at least have been able to find and experience these things for ourselves in our short lives. To be moved by something so unique and profound is a gift. These are the real works of art. I love that Eastern Europe didn’t forget what that word meant. It’s a blessing to encounter works like this that have the power to touch your mind and forever alter the way you think and view the world after you finish them. I love the way that Eastern Europe isn’t afraid to move away from meaningless spectacles and distractions and put the focus on such harder, higher, and more important and profound thoughts and ideas than what we are usually so accustomed to in our daily lives. Hopefully some day we will see a return to such form.
That's what Tarkovsky gets for making profound, anxiety-driven, emotional art that makes you think instead of bringing his eye for cinematic detail to Eurovision year after year, decade after decade, until the next ice age
funny... this is how Soviet cinema differed from Western cinema... cinema in the USSR for the most part made people think... alas, we Russians have almost lost this...

Profound filmmaking

Better than the remake with George Clooney.
🤣о! А как же голливуд продакшн? 😁
Stanisław Lem, should be first in the credits.
Didn’t he disown this movie for not really following his novel?

He made this in 1972 😮
It's remastered but yeah thats pretty impressive.
@@Auspexable remastered just means they rescanned the old negatives. It's not like they reshot any screnes.

I'd be more interested if it focused more on restoring footage.
It's far away from being just about "footage restoration". You need to tolerate the horror aspects, otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. @@Auspexable

これは傑作。
Wow! If I could have seen this in the theater last year, I should would have! Except... covid, obviously.
Recommend seeing this masterpiece in a cinema if you get a chance.
What’s the name of the track playing before 0:40?
Choral "Lord our Master, J. S. Bach from the beginning of St. Jonh passion.
Yes
You can observe they have not put a single piece of dialogue in the trailer out of fear that the audience realizes that there are subtitles.
What the name of the music that start at 0:40
It's the choral "Lord our Master" from the beginning of Johannes-Passion (St John Passion) by J.S. Bach (BWV 245).
